Do scientists support pursuing methane removal technologies?

While all scientists recognize the urgent need to cut methane emissions, some fear pursuing active removal of atmospheric methane could distract from the job of cutting and drawing down carbon dioxide emissions.  But others are recognizing methane removal deserves high priority. Dozens of prominent scientists from North America, Europe, and Japan have joined Methane Action’s call to develop technologies to reduce atmospheric methane and to adopt a global agreement to return it to pre-industrial levels.

Among the signatories are leading climate scientists and atmospheric chemists such as Michael Mann, Sir David King, Rob Jackson, James Hansen, and other prominent experts.  You can read the letter here.
